My Broken Heart
Although it hurt to let you go I knew you wanted to be free,
I longed to keep you by my side I wanted you for me.
The tighter I held the more you pushed, my strength too soon wore thin,
So I sent you far away from me, to start your journey again.
I will pray for God to keep you and for safety along the way,
And maybe by chance you will return to me after many a day.
Full of adventures and tales to tell of trials great and small,
You’ll be welcomed with opened arms, I want to hear them all.
Be safe my love, tread carefully and be sure to take a good look,
Not everyone will be good to you or want to stamp your book.
